Today I was trying to login to an online account to update some settings and for the life of me, I couldn't remember the password I had set up. I tried all three of the ones I usually use with no success.
Ah, but there was hope! There was a link to "I forgot my password" which I clicked immediately. The friendly popup window asked me to type my email address (which I did) and then to type in the letters displayed in the box. The problem was that th letters were written in a style so close together and in some weird distorted shapes, I couldn't read them! Then I saw a little wheelchair icon next to the box, which offered assistance for the disabled. Well, I'm not disabled, but it offered a system to read the letters to me so I could listen and type them out. That involved installing some sort of Activex script thing, which I did. Once more I clicked on the wheelchair icon and listened for the audio. What I heard sounded like the noise in a factory with bells and whistles going off in the background. Every so often a voice could be heard saying something indistinguishable, but it sounded almost like German! Needless to say, I couldn't hear any letters to type out. The only way I was able to get through the process and reset my password was to refresh the page enough times to get an image of letters I could decipher. Talk about making something simple so complex nobody can do it....
