Signs of Spring?
I stood in the breakfast room this morning watching the birds eagerly enjoying their breakfast. The downy woodpecker was hanging upside down from the suet cage, feasting on seeds and suet, but generously making room for the chicadees and tufties who came to eat. On the sidewalk enjoying the sunflower seeds were an assortment of feathered friends, sparrows and chicadees and cardinals. Then two larger black birds swooped down to feed, and I was thrilled to realize they were redwinged blackbirds…another sign of spring! And just a minute or two later, a robin hopped across the yard to see if he could find some worms in the saturated ground after the heavy rains. This song immediately poured into my head.
