It has occurred to me that we can describe the various phases of our adult lives alphabetically. In our 20’s we Accelerate, We enbark on careers, we marry, have kids, and hurry into adulthood as quickly as possible. Time is wasting, and we want to do it ALL. In our 30’s we seek Balance: juggling […]
With so much going on in the world today you would think it would be a real opportunity for the journalists of the world (or at least the US where there is still freedom of the press, but who knows for how long…). But it doesn’t take too much flipping of the channels to realize […]
Is it just my imagination, or has spam greatly increased lately? I browse my junk mail folder periodically to make sure it hasn’t grabbed an email that wasn’t junk (and I have to give Windows Vista credit, they have become really good at filtering out the junk). There were 417 in the last 24 hours!)
Attended a concert at a local church recently. The singer did this rousing southern gospel number that repeatedly said, “Ain’t no grave gonna hold my body down.” and she described how she looked forward to rising up to meet Jesus in the air. Her song and her comments drew applause and nods all around.
I don’t understand the mentality of those in government. They were elected to serve the will of their constituents. They swore to uphold our country’s constitution. And they are openly and flagrantly, even defiantly disregarding what we, the people, expressly say we want. They smile like benificent grandparents pacifying a spoiled child throwing a tantrum.
This morning I heard an interview discussing the furor over CBS choosing to air a Focus on the Family commercial during the NFL Superbowl. Yes, it’s a Christian organization. Yes, the commercial is a pro-life commercial about Tim Tebow’s mother being advised to have an abortion when she was pregnant with him.
Having spent nearly two solid months battling a virus, I’ve learned a lot about remedies. I tried herbal concoctions that made my throat burn and left me nauseated, but still I coughed like crazy. I took vitamins, I drank tons of green tea and lemon. Yes, I tried chicken soup, too! Over the counter meds didn’t touch […]
Our TV bagan acting strangely today, which was sort of funny being that it’s Halloween. We were joking that the set was “possessed” (which is not the same as being repossessed). All we could get when we turned on the TV was a screen telling us in a sort of DOS/old video game mode that […]
Great! Now it’s not enough to deal with spam from a hundred different sources every day, now I am sending spam to MYSELF! At least that’s what has been happening lately. I get these Nigerian scam letters telling me I am the beneficiary of millions of dollars and all I need to do is respond […]
Every day I post obituaries on our regional news websites, as I’ve done for the past 7 years now. It’s mostly a matter of copy and paste, and sometimes resizing a photo if one is included. Sometimes I barely read them because I’m in a hurry to get finished. But usually I read them through. […]
It was hot and muggy this afternoon as I headed to Dublin to visit my folks. I needed to make a quick stop at the bread store on the way. When I reached the store I noticed the raindrops starting on the windshield. A passing shower, nothing more. Made it feel like a sauna, I […]
