Rainbow over Radford

It was hot and muggy this afternoon as I headed to Dublin to visit my folks. I needed to make a quick stop at the bread store on the way.  When I reached the store I noticed the raindrops starting on the windshield. A passing shower, nothing more.  Made it feel like a sauna, I couldn’t wait to get in the air conditioning again!

Having finishing my purchase, I ducked back into the car to drive to Dublin. I hate driving in the rain… but then the shower moved on and was gone.  As I pulled onto Rt 11 I looked in my rear view mirror to check for my daughter, who was following me. I wanted to be sure she got out safely.  To my amazement, I saw behind me a rainbow.  Not just a bow of color up in the sky, but an EXPANSE of color that spanned the horizon above the treetops and went a long distance up in the air.  It was magnificent.
