When things malfunction…
Great! Now it’s not enough to deal with spam from a hundred different sources every day, now I am sending spam to MYSELF! At least that’s what has been happening lately. I get these Nigerian scam letters telling me I am the beneficiary of millions of dollars and all I need to do is respond with some of my personal information and they will get the money sent to me shortly.
Most of the time I just trash this stuff. But sometimes I get aggravated enough to respond to the witless sender with a graphic like below:
This week, however, the scam letters are arriving en masse, and most are short and sweet (unlike the sappy ones in poor English telling how their loved one hid milions of dollars from the government and now they are dying and want to send the money to someone who will do good with it like me). They are addressed to my email address, but through some fluke of electronics (or more likely the scammer’s ineptitude at configuring the crappy software that automatically sends out hundreds of thousands of these scam letters at a time), these emails have my email address in the from line. So I can’t respond to the scammer with my snappy graphic above, which is disappointing, but they also can’t get any responses from hapless victims either.
Another sign that the world is deteriorating and the morons are overrunning the asylum.
