Under Fire Over Cupcakes
A bakery in Indiana is taking heat from the media and some special interest groups over its choice to turn down an order for rainbow cupcakes to celebrate National Coming Out Day in October. The bakery, called “Just Cookies” declined to make cupcakes for the event, saying they don’t make cupcakes (Hello, those on the Looniversity Left, doesn’t the name of the bakery tell you ANYTHING?? They make COOKIES, not cupcakes…) City officials, no doubt concerned about being politically incorrect, are INVESTIGATING the bakery’s refusal to see if it violates their “equal opportunity” policy. Some in the “diversity group” have called for a boycott of the bakery. Why should this familiy’s business and livelihood be jeopardized and investigated for refusing to make anything? It’s THEIR business, their decision, their RIGHT to choose. These same knuckleheads who want to celebrate their diversity would defend to the death a woman’s RIGHT to choose to kill her unborn baby, but not a bakery’s right to decline to make a product? Gimme a break.
Interestingly enough, the same day that story aired there was a related one about Facebook, that suddenly became aware that members of NAMBLA (the North American Man-Boy Love Assocation that promotes legalizing sex between men and minor boys) were promoting their agenda on Facebook pages. Facebook, to its credit, began removing those pages immediately. Willl the Looniversity Left call for a boycott of Facebook now?
I am sick to death of hearing about diversity as a one size fits all flag to cover every form of perversion and vice imaginable, and about these whack jobs who want us to CELEBRATE their weirdness as NORMAL. Here in our county, we have a few folks who don’t believe in personal hygiene. They don’t shampoo their hair, brush their teeth, or wear deodorant. They have the right to do that if they choose. And I have the right to leave the room when I can’t bear the odor. They can be as natural as they want, but don’t ask me to wave a banner celebrating their stench. I’ll just give ’em room and probably walk the other way when I see them coming. I don’t believe in persecuting or ridiculing them for being different, but neither do I want anyone telling me that aberrant behavior should be embraced and celebrated as healthy and normal when it isn’t. The word natural is being used to cover everything from mental illness to mass murder these days. But natural isn’t NORMAL. Incest, bestiality, alcoholism, mental illness, and drug addiction may all be natural to people who are raised in an environment where those things are practiced and accepted. But that doesn’t make them normal in society at large.
We all inherit tendencies toward certain behaviors, some of them genetic, some of them through some combination of chemical imbalances and nutritional needs. I am the grandchild of alcoholic grandfathers on both sides of the family, and one of my husband’s grandfathers was an alcholic as well. Many of my aunts and uncles have battled with addictions as well as many of my cousins and siblings. According to research, the tendency to addiction can be transmitted from one generation to another. Adult children of alcoholics are more likely to become addicted to substances in their lifetimes. Those are statistics. But they are not mandates. Recognizing an inherited weakness or tendency is one thing, basking in it and embracing it as your destiny is another. I could say it’s natural, this is the way I was made, I inherited this tendency from my ancestors. Or I can recognize that this is part of my genetic background and choose to avoid alcohol and drugs and avoid the risk of addiction. The tendency may be natural, but what I choose to do with it is my decision. There’s the power to choose, and this thing called self-control. Without self-control, no society, no community, can long survive.
